Through the years HP/CoCreate have blessed ME10 with the option of running in "demo" mode. This has now come to an end. Forget trying to run ME10F.exe -demo with release 9.0 or 10.x. No longer will we be able to equip our workshops, purchasing departments or management with a free viewer. It's all over!
CoCreate expects us to buy "ME10 Viewer" and that's acceptable. But since we will have to use some money anyway then we should have a look at the alternatives. Please note that these products are listed randomly and in no way indicate a ranking (yet!). Apologies to anyone who feels their product is missing - just mail me and let me know.
Feedback on users' experience with these products would be appreciated.
Users who have previously stored ME10 drawings without the ".mi" extension may not be able to get the full benefit of these products. Files with the .mi extension can be associated with ME10 or an ME10-compatible viewer so that double-clicking automatically opens the file quickly and without any unnecessary operations. If you would like to add or change the extensions to your ME10 files, take a look at Extension Manager. Entirely macro-based, Extension Manager allows exclusion (filtering out given file types etc.), file name correction (removes spaces, extra full stops etc.) file name duplication checking and can even be adapted to your requirements!
